Malahide Free 5k Parkrun
The Malahide Parkrun is another free 5km event run by parkrun.ie. These runs are completely free to the public and are a great way of getting motivated to get a personal best time going for your running and trying to beat this (or maintain it if you have done particularly well in the past).
The event is timed using a barcode which is sent on to registered participants & if you miss out on getting a time on the day, don’t worry there is a results page printed on the website so you can check out how you are faring on the parkrun.ie website.
Most of the runs take place each Saturday at 9.30am and this is the case in Malahide Park also. The course length is 5,000 metres (5k) and the course map can be seen online at the following url – http://www.parkrun.ie/malahide/course/
The event can also be a great way of socialising with a post-run coffee in the Avoca cafe in the castle where you can compare times and progress with other runners / walkers.
So if you feel like getting your running gear on in the coming weekends the why not come along to Malahide Park or a park near you. Other events are run around the country and locations for these other events can be viewed on the map page at http://www.parkrun.ie/events/
